Many survivors say, “But he never hit me.” Emotional and psychological abuse can still cause deep harm, affecting confidence, memory, sleep and the ability to trust your own perceptions.

Possible signs

  • Constant criticism, humiliation or name-calling
  • Denying events you clearly remember
  • Blame for the other person’s moods or actions
  • Threats to leave, take the children or harm themselves
  • Feeling like you are “walking on eggshells”

You don’t need to prove it

You don’t have to be certain or have evidence to ask for a screening conversation.

Considering a screening conversation?

Our IPV & Coercive Control Screening service offers a confidential, clinician-led conversation to help you understand your situation and possible next steps. Each person is screened separately, and you can share your safest way to be contacted.
